„Walizka” (“Suitcase”) is an abridged history of the world, history of civilization. This is a story of the eternal conflict between nature and culture, about the clash of the primeval, pure element with the product of civilization. There are no winners or losers in this battle. There are no simple answers. The only we can do is to ask questions. Does culture liberate or restrain? Does civilization, which was supposed to enrich us, help us grow or destroy us? And finally, did the products, creations of civilization and culture become our subjects or maybe we are their slaves? The action of the film is set in a closed time circle from dawn to dawn, which gives an impression of no way out. It is a classic example of film confinement, imprisonment. Friedrich Nietzsche said that “civilization for man is the same as an axe for an executioner” but would an executioner cease to be one without an axe?
